Linda Cairns

Welcome to Linda's Homepage

I was born in Perivale, Middlesex, moved to Reading four years later, and then to Upminster in Essex when I was six.

Having studied at Hornchurch Grammar School (on the site which is now Emerson Park School) & then reading maths at Southampton University (as Linda Collins), followed by a Certificate in Education, I then taught for three years at a girls' comprehensive school in the Southampton area. I joined a major computer manufacturer for a further ten years and then freelanced for two years.

I had a maternity break during which time I was a volunteer Breastfeeding Counsellor and Breast Pump Agent with the National Childbirth Trust (NCT) and provided occasional computer consultancy.

I was a Parent Governor at Norcot Nursery School for two years until my youngest child left, spent two years as treasurer of the Friends of Park Lane Primary School and two years as webmaster for the Reading School Parents' Association. I am in my fifth year as webmaster for Kendrick Parents' Society

Having worked as a Consultant for PI Computers (Berkshire)  Ltd, then as Director and part-time IT Consultant for Servotech Consultancy. I now work part-time as an independent computer consultant and am looking for admin work.

I play some badminton, am learning to play the flute and am in an orchestra caled Da Capo which is mainly for adult learners.
