As you may have guessed from the large, inconspicuous, name at the top of this
page, my name is Stephen Cairns. Let me tell you a bit about myself:

Skills:Programming: C, C++ programming. Learning C#, Java and JavaScriptOrganisational: Organisational skills learned in running and heading various chess societies. Driving: Full clean British Driver's Licence. Languages: French (A) and German (A*) to GCSE standard. Education:Trinity College, Cambridge (2006-2009): BA (Hons) Mathematics (2II) including computational projects using C with a software library.Little Heath School, Tilehurst (1999-2006). A-levels: 4 As at A2, an A at AS, 2 Distinctions at AEA, 1:1 in STEP. Activities and Interests:University Chess 2008-2009: Current grading 181 ECF, correlates with a very strong club player, and first team county player strength. ECF member, FIDE rating pending.Trinity College Chess Club Player of the Season 2008-2009. University of Cambridge Chess Champion (Lent 2009-2010): 1st place in a Swiss-style tournament under 30 minute time controls, defeating an International Master and a Fide Master. 2007-2008: President of Trinity College Chess Club: Formulated a budget; applied for funding; procured equipment; organised fresher and team recruitment and captained Trinity I, who won the 2008 Cuppers tournament. Wrote article for the Annual Record. 2006-2007: Captain of Trinity II chess team: Organised matches in the inter-collegiate league and Cuppers tournament. University of Cambridge Chess Champion (Lent 2007-2008). Other Chess LHS chess Club: Key player in the founding of the school chess club in 2004. Supervised and helped children improve 2004-2006. Reading Chess Club: Twice received Award for Grade Improvement, best league performance 2008-2009, 1st or 1st= in several Club lightning tournaments. Berks and Bucks Congress: 1st= in lightning chess tournament 2008, 2006. Prize winner 2007, 2006. UK Chess International: Qualified, and won the U18 Boy national title. Bridge Represented University of Cambridge twice against county teams, and Trinity College thrice in Bridge Cuppers tournaments. Badminton Regular club player, admitted to the Trinity III Badminton team, and, at one point, was in training for the county team. Mathematics Keen interest in Probability and Graph Theory. Plan to study Combinatorics once time permits. Programming Use the aforementioned languages, Project Euler programming tasks and write code to try out new concepts. Maintain own webpage.
